Showcase the best work

The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing’s Showcase uses PressForward to curate stellar examples of science writing for learners and enthusiasts of all experience levels.

In the classroom

The Lewis & Clark College Environmental Studies Program produces Environment Across Boundaries, a student-led publication that cultivates interdisciplinary perspectives on environmental issues.

Highlight archived work

When the Public Library of Science wanted to find a way to make the work published across their suite of journals more visible, they used PressForward to create PLOS Collections.

Foster community

When the ACRL’s Digital Humanities Discussion Group wanted to create a publication that would act as a communal space for interested librarians, they used PressForward to build dh + lib.

Highlight the work of your institution

The Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, where a community of researchers gather to teach and collaborate, uses PressForward to centralize the conversations those researchers have across the web.

Stay current in your field

Digital Humanities Now is the protoype publication of the PressForward project. At the heart of DHNow is the question of how a scholar or librarian stays current with the most important work in their field.

PressForward

PressForward enables teams of researchers to aggregate, filter, and disseminate relevant scholarship using the popular WordPress web publishing platform.

A free and open-source software project launched in 2011 at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, PressForward is now a project of Digital Scholar, the nonprofit corporation which operates allied projects Omeka, Sourcery, Tropy, and Zotero. PressForward benefits from the support of its enthusiastic users and collaborating projects, who supply essential feedback, feature requests, and issue reports about the software's implementation. All PressForward code is open source and freely available on GitHub, and the plugin is available through the WordPress plugin repository.
